Iconic Bend painter Tom Browning — known for his Santa Claus paintings as well as his Western-themed artwork — will be profiled on Thursday’s edition of the television show Oregon Art Beat.

Browning said the show will cover the body of his work and not just his Santa paintings, which he called a “small part of what I do.” Nevertheless, Browning said he’s now working on a series of paintings for a New York publisher who plans to release an illustrated version of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” in two years.

In addition, more than 15 of his Santa-themed original paintings are now on display at Lahaina Galleries in Bend.

The show airs at 8 p.m. Thursday on Oregon Public Broadcasting and repeats at 6 p.m. Dec. 16.
