Deschutes County to review towing rate schedules
Published 4:00 am Saturday, December 15, 2007
Deschutes County commissioners will evaluate their contracts with towing companies at Monday’s commission meeting. Due to complaints from the public on the discrepancies of rates between companies, the new contracts will include rate schedules.
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office contracts with several local towing companies, whose rates have been affected by a high volume of impounded and abandoned cars.
There also will be a public hearing on transportation improvements in the city of Bend that relate to the Tetherow destination resort. The discussion will revolve around the transportation improvements on the city’s west side necessitated by the resort.
On Monday in Culver, city councilors will discuss the Culver School District Construction Excise Tax, which allows the city to collect up to $1 per square foot of residential construction to go toward the school districts. The council will discuss the best way to proceed collecting the money.
At the Redmond City Council meeting Tuesday, a representative from the Redmond Fire Department will discuss a $55,444 FEMA grant the city was awarded. The money would allow the fire department to buy a special washer and dryer for washing protective clothing. The funds will also go toward purchasing workout equipment. The council is also scheduled to discuss revising its annexation process.
