Microsemi Corp., the Irvine, Calif.-based semiconductor and integrated circuit manufacturer with facilities in Bend, announced Tuesday its purchase of TSI Microelectronics Corp. for $2 million in cash.

Based in Danvers, Mass., TSI makes customized electronics parts for aerospace and military equipment that is no longer supported by the equipment’s manufacturers. Microsemi said it plans to grow the company’s operations by switching it from a custom-parts business into a standard products business focusing on electronics for radio, microwave and millimeter wave applications.

TSI had revenues of $1.2 million in the past 12 months, according to Microsemi.

The purchase of TSI will not affect Microsemi’s Bend operations, said local spokeswoman Kathy Fosberg. Microsemi’s Bend facilities manufacture high-power silicon and silicon carbide products used in medical, defense, telecommunications and industrial applications.

Microsemi shares closed Tuesday at $20.45, down more than 3 percent in Nasdaq trading.
