The Traditional Archers of Oregon (TAO) annual meeting is scheduled for Jan. 26-27.

Jan. 26 events at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond will include four of the top traditional bow makers in the country: John Strunk of Spirit Longbows, Allen Boice of Liberty Longbows, Norm Johnson of Blacktail Bows and Wes Wallace of Wes Wallace Bows. The bow makers will present a seminar about longbows and recurves.

Larry Fischer of Traditional Bowhunter Magazine will discuss hunting Shiras Moose, the least expensive and most available moose for close-to-home bowhunters.

Blake Miller of Redmond, (OutdoorQuest.biz), will talk about using maps, GPS units and compasses to navigate safely in the outdoors, as well as how to record those trips and make maps and a diary of the trip.

Debby Richter of Medford will host an all day Native American basket-weaving workshop. This will be a hands-on class and all participants will make an antler basket.

The dinner speaker is Dave Petersen, longbow elk hunter and author.

Youth hunters will have their own seminars, including traditional arrow-making and game-calling, with all items free to kids attending.

On Jan. 27, TAO will host a traditional moving 3D-target shoot at the Bend Bowmen indoor range on Knott Road in Bend. From 2 to 6 p.m., all archers with any equipment are invited to shoot.
