Super Burrito, the low-cost Mexican restaurant that closed its location on Northwest Minnesota Avenue in August, could reopen in a new spot by mid-February. The restaurant’s owners are waiting on the city to approve building permits before they can finish work on the inside of their new space on the corner of Northwest Wall Street and Newport Avenue. Once it gets the permit for interior changes, Super Burrito could reopen in as soon as two weeks, co-owner Juan Moreno said.
“It’s very valuable for us to have an active anchor business on that end of downtown,” said Chuck Arnold, executive director of the Bend Downtowners Association. Super Burrito’s foot traffic will draw people to the north side of downtown, potentially helping other businesses, he said.
“The thing about getting Super Burrito back open downtown,” Arnold said, “is it’s absolutely crucial for us to continue to have affordable food for those who want to have a quick lunch.”
