John David Aspel, of Bend, died Thursday. He was 64.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Niswonger-Reynolds Chapel in Bend.

Mr. Aspel was born May 4, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of George and Katherine (Meyers) Aspel. He married Sandra Sotin on Dec. 11, 1971, in North Bend.

Mr. Aspel served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam. He owned Western Rent to Own in Bend. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching football, woodworking, gardening and landscaping.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John Jr., of Bend; two daughters, Deborah Durbin, of Bend, and Kimberly Schenck, of Junction City; a stepbrother, Greg, of Bend; a sister, Sally, of Redondo Beach, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
