- On March 1, Frank Ostaseski will share “Surrendering to the Sacred: Healing Our Culture” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Bends Sacred Art of Living Center will present three speakers over the next week as part of its Circle of Life Inspirational Speaker Series at Eagle Crest Resorts conference center near Redmond.
The Sacred Art of Living Center is a nonprofit education and retreat center that offers comprehensive programs emphasizing spirituality in end-of-life care, said Dana Gregg of the center.
The Circle of Life event will feature three renowned experts on spiritual issues who come from a range of backgrounds, Gregg said.
We are incredibly excited about this particular group of speakers, she said. These people will speak profoundly to the people who are part of our program, but they speak to a much wider audience than that, as well. Thats why we try and offer these events to the public.
First up is Coleman Barks on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Barks taught poetry and creative writing at the University of Georgia for 30 years and has authored numerous translations of the Sufi poet Rumi. He will talk about The Soul of Rumi and will be accompanied by cellist David Darling.
On Monday from 6 to 9 p.m., Dr. Joan Borysenko will give a speech titled Saying Yes to Change: A Spiritually Guided Life. Borysenko is a former medical scientist, now a mind/body expert, and shell explore the nature of spirituality and how it differs from religion.
Then, on March 1, Frank Ostaseski will deliver Surrendering to the Sacred: Healing Our Culture from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ostaseski is the founder of the Metta Institute, which provides education on spirituality at the end of life, and he helped form the first Buddhist hospice in America.
Tickets for individual talks cost $35 and are available at the event. You can purchase a $75 pass for all three speakers. The entry fee includes a reception and book signing.
