Back Door Slam plays Ranch, Domino Room

The blues-rock trio Back Door Slam was in Bend in January, and by all accounts, their set at the Domino Room smoked.

Now the band is back, and you have two chances to catch ’em.

Back Door Slam has built up a deafening buzz over the past several months, thanks to its thunderous take on the blues. The band’s 2007 album “Roll Away” has received positive reviews, and its live show prompted Seattle Times writer Patrick MacDonald to say he “heard the spirit of Jimi Hendrix” in the band’s performance.

Not only is Back Door Slam playing Monday night at the Domino Room, they’re also playing a free, electric set at Ranch Records at 3 p.m. that afternoon. That’s right: free. Skip it, and the real spirit of Hendrix will personally come down and scold you.

Also, the Domino Room has secured a temporary liquor license for Back Door Slam’s evening gig and will be able to sell liquor in addition to beer.

Back Door Slam, David Bowers and friends ; 7:30 p.m. Monday, doors open 7 p.m.; $10 plus service charges advance, $12 door, advance tickets available at Ranch Records (389-6116) in Bend and through Ticketswest at www.ticketswest.com, 800-992-8499, and the Safeway at 642 N.E.
