Mary Kay Essery, of Bend, died Monday. She was 87.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Fox Hollow Assisted Living.

Mrs. Essery was born Aug. 13, 1920, in San Diego, the daughter of Oscar and Pauline Quarforth. She married Thomas Essery on Sept. 14, 1947, in San Diego.

Mrs. Essery taught porcelain art from her home. She was a member of the International Porcelain Artists and Teachers. She enjoyed raising koi, gardening and painting.

Survivors include a son, James, of La Mesa, Calif.; a daughter, Linda Rode, of Bend; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Deschutes Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
