Cynthia A. Smith

Cynthia A. Smith, of Bend, died Friday of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. She was 58.

Private services will be held.

Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 31, 1949, in San Jose, Calif., the daughter of Herbert and Gladys (Dolezal) Buckingham. She attended Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif. She married Donald Smith on Dec. 23, 1972, in Fullerton, Calif.

Mrs. Smith worked as a home health aide, retiring in 2005. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading and spending time with family.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Nathan, Joshua and Micah; three daughters, Shimry, Shala and Mashana; a sister, Roxanne Presley; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
