These are some of the special events coming up on America’s Wild Rivers Coast – from Port Orford, Ore., to Klamath, Calif. – starting Saturday, April 26.
Garage Sale Saturday
The annual spring Garage Sale Saturday event puts dozens of sales on a special map of Brookings-Harbor in the Saturday, April 26, edition of the Curry Coastal Pilot.
Tall Ships Celebration
The Wild Rivers Coast Tall-Masted Ships Celebration welcomes the Hawaiian Chieftain and the Lady Washington into the Crescent City Harbor April 23-29. Music and entertainment fill the dockside pavilion from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Watch for a full schedule of events in The Daily Triplicate and the Curry Coastal Pilot newspapers.
Energy Workshop
The Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative, Smith River Rancheria and Oregon Department of Energy hold an all-day workshop on saving and making energy beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Best Western Beachfront Inn, 16008 Boat Basin Rd., Harbor.
Azalea Festival Pageant
The annual Azalea Festival Scholarship Pageant will culminate with the crowning of a new Azalea Queen, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Brookings-Harbor High School, 625 Pioneer Rd., Brookings.
Ophir Fire BBQ
The Ophir Fire Department holds its second annual Chicken BBQ from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Ophir Fire Hall in Nesika Beach, seven miles north of Gold Beach.
Orchestra concerts
The Curry-Del Norte Orchestra presents its spring concerts on three days this week:
8 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Bethany Lutheran Church 94190 Fifth Street, Gold Beach;
3 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Elk Valley Rancheria, 2332 Howland Hill Rd., Crescent City; and
8 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1200 Easy St., Brookings.
Saturday concerts
Several businesses are hosting special music events on Saturday, April 26, including:
Homemade Jam, 7 p.m., Gold Beach Books, Highway 101 at First Street, Gold Beach.
Sentimental Journey with Rick and Heather, 6 p.m., Bella Italia Ristorante, 1025 Chetco Ave., Brookings.
Acoustic Cafe and Acoustic Alley features various artists,, 2 to 7 p.m., The Gallery Restaurants, 515 Chetco Ave., Brookings.
Car show
Car enthusiasts are invited to show and see special vehicles at the Ocean Imports Car Show from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at the Event Center at the Beach, on Highway 101 in Gold Beach.
Coastal Expo
The Coastal Expo fills the Del Norte County Fairgrounds on Highway 101 in Crescent City with displays all day Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27.
Musical Variety Show
”Pacific’s Social Aid and Pleasure Club Musical Variety Show” will premiere at the new Theatre 101 in the Seaside Plaza, next to Driftwood School, on Highway 101 in Port Orford. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 25-26, and Friday, May 2, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27.
Gold Beach Art Roll
The Spring Gold Beach Art Roll is set for 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 26, with a bus traveling between seven art galleries in the community.
Murder Mystery Dinner
The Redwoods Mural Society stages a Murder Mystery Dinner Party at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Del Norte Senior Center, 1765 Northcrest Drive, Crescent City.
Candidate Forum
The Daily Triplicate will host a forum for the candidates for Del Norte County supervisor, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Lighthouse Inn, 681 Highway 101 South, Crescent City.
Cinco de Maya
The Gold Beach Library hosts a Cinco de Mayor Fiesta from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the new library on Third Street in Gold Beach.
Power Short Shorts’
FoxWell Productions presents the comedy ”Power Short Shorts” over three weekends in dinner theater at three restaurants: Friday and Saturday, May 9-10, at Gold Beach Books and Spinners Restaurant in Gold Beach; Thursday and Friday, May 15-16, at Bella Italia Ristorante in Brookings; and Friday and Saturday, May 3031, at Ship Ashore Resort in Smith River.
St. Joseph’s Dinner
The annual St. Joseph’s Spring Dinner and Auction will ”Follow the Yellow Brick Road” on Saturday, May 10, at the Crescent City Cultural Center, 1001 Front St., Crescent City.
Art, Seafood and Wine
The annual America’s Wild Rivers Coast Art, Seafood and Wine Festival includes an art show, savory seafood, exquisite wine and beer at the Event Center on the Beach in downtown Gold Beach. Doors are open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 17, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 18.
