GarajMahal is a four-building, 60-unit condominium storage facility, said Michael Nyberg, a broker with Steve Larsen Properties in Bend. The $4.8 million project is scheduled to open Sept. 1.
“It was conceived a year ago,” Nyberg said. “The target is the RV and boat owner, or car collector who has more toys than they can store at home. They want storage, but they don’t want to rent.”
Unit owners are able to customize their units — measuring 14 feet by 30 feet or 14 feet by 48 feet — with such accessories as stainless steel cabinetry, epoxy flooring or other gear options, Nyberg said. Owners also can create work areas for maintenance.
The smaller- and larger-sized units are priced $68,000 and $106,000, respectively.
Owners can combine units for a larger space. Twenty-six units have been reserved so far, he said.
Each of the units is individually heated to maintain a temperature of at least 40 degrees, so owners do not have to winterize their vehicles, he said.
“If you have a $400,000 (RV) coach, you want it to be weather-protected,” Nyberg said.
The storage units will be surrounded by a security fence.
