Joan Irene Switzer, of Prineville, died Tuesday of breast cancer. She was 71.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Mountain View Presbyterian Church in Marysville, Wash.

Mrs. Switzer was born June 17, 1936, in Renton, Wash., the daughter of George and Helen Lines. She graduated from high school in Renton and attended the University of Washington. She married Gary Switzer on Aug. 30, 1991, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Mrs. Switzer was a homemaker and an executive secretary. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed raising Great Danes, reading, playing on the computer, crossword puzzles, knitting and collecting antique salts. She moved to Prineville in 2002.

Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Clark, of Marysville, and Debbie Doupé, of Los Angeles; two stepsons, Marc, of Kennewick, Wash., and Mike, of Connell, Wash.; and four grand- children.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pioneer Memorial Hospice, 1201 N.E. Elm St., Prineville, OR 97754.
