Cloth coffee cozies offered at Backporch

Backporch Coffee Roasters is offering a colorful way to be

environmentally friendly.

Almost two months ago, the shop on Northwest Newport Avenue began selling cloth coffee cozies made by Bend resident Maga Decker, mother of Backporch co-owner Majell Beach.

The cozies cost $6 each and fit most coffee cups and tumblers.

The first 15 sold out in three days, Beach said, so Decker increased her production, creating cozies made with different cotton patterns, trims and with decorative buttons. They continue to fly off the shelves, Beach said.

Of course, bringing a reusable coffee tumbler for the morning joe would be even more “green,” but the colorful cozies are a pretty way to be environmentally conscious.
