The Mountain View Hospital Foundation in Madras will hold its second annual fly-fishing tournament, “High Plains Drifter,” July 31 and Aug. 1 on the Deschutes River.
Kicking off the event, at the Inn at Cross Keys Station in Madras at 6 p.m. July 31, will be fly-fishing luminaries Rick Hafele, Dave Hughes and Brian O’Keefe. Proceeds from the event will go to the Mountain View Hospital Foundation’s Community Health Improvement Partnership Program, with 5 percent of the funds going to the Oregon Trout organization. The partnership program is dedicated to making the communities served by the foundation the healthiest in the state.
An Evening with the Masters will feature a gourmet meal, hosted bar and presentations by the three masters. Guests will be lodged at the hotel.
On Aug. 1, “A Day on the Deschutes” with the Riffle Fly Shop will include a salmon lunch and hosted bar, a drift down the river and dinner at Red Side’s Lodge in Madras, live music and prizes.
Cost is $1,200, $600 of which is tax deductible.
