McMahan’s Furniture, a furniture and appliance store located on the corner of Third Street and Olney Avenue in Bend since 1987, will close within four to five weeks after completing a liquidation sale, said George Harmon, general manager. The store closed Tuesday to prepare for the liquidation and will reopen Saturday. Lagging consumer spending in Bend forced the closure of the store, Harmon said. The Redding, Calif.-based chain has 16 other locations in California and Oregon, including five other locations in Oregon, according to its Web site. No other stores in the chain will close, Harmon said. The 27,596-square-foot building is for sale for $3.7 million, according to Compass Commercial Real Estate Services.
