No one was injured Monday evening in the crash of a single-engine plane south of Prineville.

Officials from the Crook County Sheriff’s Office and Crook County Fire and Rescue were called to the Dry Creek Airpark around 8 p.m., according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

The airpark is a private subdivision located about eight miles south of Prineville, near Davis Road.

The plane, a 1988 Lancair piloted by Bob Lee Mackey, of San Jose, Calif., reportedly made two passes over a runway in the airpark before touching down at mid-field and skidding off an embankment at the end of the runway, the release said.

Officials believe the plane slid off the embankment after Mackey tried to make a right turn while the plane was still taxiing at a high speed.

Neither Mackey nor his passenger, Pedro Luis Lopez, of Santa Clara, Calif., was injured in the crash.

Crook County Undersheriff Jim Hensley said Tuesday that officials have contacted the Federal Aviation Administration for further investigation of the crash.
