Pastor Virgil Askren will share a sermon titled “Gardening in Central Oregon” at the 10:15 a.m. service Sunday at Bend Church of the Nazarene , 1270 N.E. 27th St.

Pastor Dave Drullinger will share the message “A Praying Church,” based on James 5:13-18, at the 10 a.m. service Sunday at Discovery Christian Church , 334 N.W. Newport Ave., Bend. Adult Bible study will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, followed by a continental breakfast at 9:30 a.m.

Pastor Mike Johnson will share the eighth message in the series “Gold in the Pews, Miracles in the House” at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday at Faith Christian Center , 1049 N.E. 11th St., Bend. Priority One Youth services are held Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Mindy Phillips will share her perspective on a mission trip to Mexico City while speaking on the topic “Hope in the Hard Times: Hope in the Unseen!” at the 9 a.m. contemporary and 10:45 a.m. traditional services Sunday at First Presbyterian Church , 230 N.E. Ninth St., Bend. A contemplative prayer service for peace open to people of all faiths will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Pastor Thom Larson will share the message “Sages and Dreamers: A Biblical Who’s Who,” based on Hosea 1:1-2:1, at the 9 a.m. contemporary and 10:30 a.m. traditional services Sunday at First United Methodist Church , 680 N.W. Bond St., Bend.

Pastor Randy Myers will share the message “Dangerous Living Like Daniel,” based on Micah and Zechariah, as the 10th part in the summer series focusing on the Old Testament, at the 6 p.m. service today and the 9 and 10:45 a.m. services Sunday at New Hope Church , 20080 S.W. Pinebrook Blvd., Bend. Journey, an alternative service for young adults meets at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Pastor Dave Nagler will share the message “Confessing Christ Today” at the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday at Nativity Lutheran Church , 60850 S.E. Brosterhous Road, Bend.

Don Lukinbeal will speak on the topic “Simple Gifts of Kindness” at the 9 a.m. service Sunday at Spiritual Awareness Community of the Cascades , Old Stone Church, 157 N.W. Franklin Ave., Bend.

The Rev. Patti Pomerantz will speak on the topic “Our Unitarian Universalist Roots: Living the Legacy” at the 11 a.m. service Sunday at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Central Oregon , Old Stone Church, 157 N.W. Franklin Ave., Bend.

A sermon titled “The Great Escape” will be delivered as the third part of the series “Fight or Flight” at the 6:30 p.m. service today and at the 8, 9 and 10:45 a.m. services Sunday at Westside Church . The middle school youth group meets at 9 a.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Wednesday, and the high school youth group meets at 10:45 a.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Wednesday. Young adults meet at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Guest speaker Pastor Wendell Smith will share the message “Prayer, Faith and Healing” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Westside Church , 2051 N.W. Shevlin Park Road, Bend.
