Purse: $7 million. Winner’s share: $1.26 million.

Last year: Tiger Woods shot 64-63-64-66 for an eight-shot victory and his seventh title of the season. Along with the win and $1.26 million check, Woods was a runaway winner of the FedEx Cup.

Last week: The United States won the Ryder Cup for the first time since 1999, beating Europe 16½-11½ at Valhalla in Kentucky.

Notes: Vijay Singh, the winner of the playoff-opening Barclays and Deutsche Bank, needs only to complete the event to take the $10 million FedEx Cup prize.

Purse: $1.4 million. Winner’s share: $210,000.

Television: Golf Channel (Thursday, 3:30-5:30 p.m.; Friday, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 a.m., 5:30-7:30 p.m.; Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., 3:30-6 p.m.; Sunday, 10 p.m.-12:30 a.m., 3:30-6 p.m.; Monday, 10 p.m.-12:30 a.m.).

Last year: Sweden’s Maria Hjorth beat Stacy Prammanasudh by a stroke for her third tour title and first since 1999.

Last event: Angela Stanford won the Bell Micro LPGA Classic in Mobile, Ala., on Sept. 14 for her second LPGA Tour title.

Notes: Ochoa is playing for the first time since tying for sixth in the Safeway Classic on Aug. 24, her fourth top-seven finish in a row, but seventh straight winless start. … The tour will be in California the next two weeks for the Samsung World Championship and Longs Drugs Challenge.

Last year: Mark Wiebe became the 12th player to win in his first Champions Tour start, leading wire-to-wire in a record-setting victory. He finished with a 5-under 67 for a tournament-record 18-under 198 total.

Last event: R.W. Eaks successfully defended his Greater Hickory Classic title Sept. 14, closing with a 1-under 71 in windy conditions for a four-stroke victory over Tom Jenkins and Tom Kite.

Notes: Larry Mize, the 1987 Masters winner, is making his Champions Tour debut. … The tour is off next week. Play will resume Oct. 9-12 with the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship in Timonium, Md., the final senior major of the year.

Last year: England’s Lee Westwood closed with a 7-under 65 for a five-stroke victory over countryman Ian Poulter.

Last week: The United States won the Ryder Cup for the first time since 1999, beating Europe 16½-11½ at Valhalla in Kentucky. Jim Furyk’s 2-and-1 victory over Miguel Angel Jimenez gave captain Paul Azinger’s team the decisive point. Anthony Kim routed Sergio Garcia 5 and 4 in the opening singles and Kentucky players Kenny Perry and J.B. Holmes and Boo Weekley, Chad Campbell and Ben Curtis also won Sunday matches. Weekley and Holmes had 2-0-1 records and Hunter Mahan was 2-0-3, helping the six U.S. rookies go 9-4-8. Captain’s pick Poulter led Europe at 4-1-0. Garcia (0-2-2), Padraig Harrington (0-3-1) and Westwood (0-2-2) failed to win a match.

Notes: Westwood and fellow European Ryder Cup players Graeme McDowell and Oliver Wilson are in the field along with longtime team stars Darren Clarke and Colin Montgomerie. … The Ryder Cup has been played four times at The Belfry, with Europe winning in 1985 and 2002 and the United States taking the 1989 and 1993 matches. The Belfry also was the site of the Benson and Hedges International Open, the longtime tour event that ended in 2003 because of restrictions on tobacco promotions. … The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is next week at St. Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, followed by the Madrid Masters and the Portugal Masters.
