Your vote could help bring much needed funds to an animal shelter in Central Oregon. The Animal Rescue Site, which gives funding to animal rescue charities throughout North America, is giving donations to shelters that participate with Petfinder.com, according to a news release from the Animal Rescue Site.

A total of $100,000 will be dolled out as grants until Dec. 14, in weekly $1,000 chunks, to the shelter that has the most votes during the week. A $25,000 grand prize will be given to the shelter with the most votes overall. Shelters from Bend, Madras, Prineville and Redmond are included in the contest. You can return to the site each day and vote again for your favorite.

To search for shelters and cast your vote, visit www.theanimal rescuesite.com and choose the Shelter Challenge tab on the right. The grand prize winner will be announced Dec. 15.
