Schnitzer Steel plans to replace its CEO

PORTLAND — Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc. is replacing its chief executive, effective Dec. 1. John Carter, president and chief executive, will become chairman. Tamara Lundgren, executive vice president and chief operating officer, will succeed him in both posts.
Lundgren and Carter joined Schnitzer in 2005. Carter is the first nonfamily chief executive in the company’s hundred-year history.
