- New candy shops hope for sweet success
Two new candy stores are opening in Bend just in time for the holidays.
National candy-maker See’s Candies is opening a gift center in Bend’s Cascade Village Shopping Center, and Powell’s Sweet Shoppe opened on Wall Street downtown last week.
See’s will occupy a temporary space in the mall until Dec. 26, offering staples including chocolates, truffles, bite-sized toffee, peanut brittle, candy bars and other stocking-stuffers.
The store will set up in a kiosk next to Cold Stone Creamery, at the mall’s center.
Powell’s will make the former Get Wireless space its permanent home, offering 5,000 types of candy, vintage toys and gelato. The store is set up like an old-fashioned candy store.
This will be the first Oregon store for the Windsor, Calif.-based chain and will be managed locally.
Powell’s joins existing downtown candy store Goody’s Soda Fountain and Candy Store, also on Wall Street, and fine chocolates store Chocolat et Gateaux, on Minnesota Avenue.
