Lloyd ”Pete” Henry Satterlee

August 27, 1932 – Dec. 1, 2008

Lloyd ”Pete” Henry Satterlee, Jr. died December 1, 2008 due to natural causes. He was 76 years old.

He was born in Medford and spent his early childhood in Crescent City, CA. Pete was one of two children born to Lloyd Henry Satterlee and Margery Esther (Cave). The family moved to Redmond in 1943. He graduated from Redmond High School in 1950. Just before Pete graduated from high school, he was injured in an accident on the Deschutes River. Although he spent the rest of his life in a wheel chair, he never lost his zest for life.

Pete started out in his business career owning a credit bureau in Redmond.

In 1961, together with his father, they started Deschutes River Recreation Homesites south of Sunriver. In 1983, Pete and Elisabeth, together with Ed and Sandy Willard, started Sunray Vacation Rentals. Pete and Elisabeth retired in 1994.

Pete met and married the love of his life Elisabeth (Graber) at Powell Butte Church in 1968. Pete and Elisabeth loved to travel and made many trips back to Elisabeth’s home of Switzerland. They also traveled to Hawaii and Montreal. Later, Pete and Elisabeth spent many winters in sunny Palm Desert.

Pete always said ”I got hurt on the river, made my living on the river and wanted to die on the river.”

Pete is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elisabeth Satterlee; his sister, Margaret L. Mollman; niece, Tracey and Roger Knode; nephew, Bob and Dea Mollman; nephews, Joshua and Talon; cousins and many lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in- law, Mike Mollman, and niece, Kaysie Lynn Mollman.

At Pete’s request, there will be no formal service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Pete’s name, please send it to DRRH Neighbors Club, P.O. Box 3028, Sunriver, OR 97707.
