EUGENE — Michael Leunen and Brad Carter accounted for all but eight of Redmond’s points Tuesday afternoon in the Panthers’ 69-30 nonconference boys basketball loss to South Eugene.
The two Redmond forwards scored 11 points apiece.
South Eugene held Redmond to fewer than 10 points in every quarter.
“They pressed us, and we turned it over way too many times for baskets,” said Dusty Porter, the Panthers’ first-year head coach. “We gave them everything they wanted for Christmas.”
Redmond was coming off a 65-48 win at Roseburg on Monday and was without two senior regulars, Kyle Baca and Cody Hayden, who were not available for Tuesday’s game, according to Porter.
“South Eugene is a good squad,” said Porter. “They shoot the ball well and they’re athletic. We’re a young team, and we have a lot of potential, but we still have a lot of work to do.”
The Panthers (3-4) host a three-day tournament starting Monday.
