The Northwest Crossing restaurant portello winecafe will kick off a weekly live-music series Saturday night with the return of Spokane, Wash., folk singer Marshall McLean.

McLean specializes in hushed, emotionally charged folk music with faith-focused lyrical themes and melodies that’ll bounce around your brain for a good long while. His 2007 album, “A Road to Antioch,” is a concept album based on the Sermon on the Mount from the book of Matthew.

The series will continue Jan. 31 with a 6 p.m. performance by local Americana trio The Sweet Harlots.

Marshall McLean ; 6 p.m. Saturday; free; portello winecafe, 2754 N.W. Crossing Dr., Bend; 541-385-1777 or www.portello winecafe.com.
