Dorothy McKinley, age 91, passed away February 28, 2009, in Vancouver, WA. Born on October 25, 1917, in Avon, Minnesota to Edward and Luella Schmid, she was the oldest of five children.

Dorothy married Stanley McKinley on April 26, 1942, in Banning, California, and together they raised six children. She enjoyed a long life, and she will be remembered for being a conscientious homemaker, terrific cook, and accomplished seamstress.
Dorothy enjoyed playing bridge throughout her adult life, and she and Stanley both enjoyed their time on the golf course in Bend, Oregon after retirement.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, on December 8, 2004, and her brother, Bill Schmid. She is survived by three siblings: Don Schmid of Albany, MN; Lois Curci of Newport Beach, CA; and Lee Schmid of Avon, MN.
She will be sorely missed by her children: Stanley McKinley, Jr. of Mercer Island, WA; Judy Nichols of Vancouver, WA; Carl McKinley and wife, Jeanette, of Yorba Linda, CA; Ruth O’Brien and husband, Rick, of Bothell, WA; Nora Traut and husband, Marc, of Bakersfield, CA; and George McKinley of Phelan, CA. She leaves behind seven grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 20, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Vancouver, WA.
