PORTLAND — Kroger supermarkets is recalling 10-ounce packages of pistachios sold in Oregon and 30 other states over fears of possible salmonella contamination.
The recall covers its Private Selection brand with sell-by dates of Dec. 13 and Dec. 14, 2009.
They were sold in 17 Kroger-owned stores, including Kroger, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, King Soopers, Smith’s, Dillons, QFC, City Market, Foods Co., Jay C, Scott’s, Owen’s, Baker’s, Gerbes, Hilander and Pay Less.
The Oregonian said Georgia Nut Co. in Skokie, Ill., recalled the nuts saying routine testing had detected salmonella.
Fred Meyer said it got its nuts from the same supplier as Georgia Nut.
