Military notes
U.S. Navy Seaman Recruit Alex Serrao, of Bend, has graduated from basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Serrao is a 2008 graduate of Marshall High School in Bend, and she is the daughter of Leslie Serrao, of Corvallis, and Dana Serrao, of Bend.

Drew Gamble, of Bend, has been named to the fall 2008 Dean’s Honor List at DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond, Wash. Gamble is a 2004 graduate of Mountain View High School, and he is the son of Richard and Becky Gamble, of Bend.

Youth Notes
Steven Berge, of Bend, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank achievable in Boy Scouts. Berge is a member of Troop 21, part of the Fremont District and the Crater Lake Council. He is a junior at Summit High School, and he is the son of John and Sandy Berge, of Bend.

Jim Bartholomew and Steven Bartholomew, both of Bend, are new junior members of the American Angus Association. Junior members are able to register cattle in the American Angus Association, participate in National Junior Angus Association programs, and participate in national and regional events.
