Sun Devils’ Harden going pro: All-America guard James Harden of Arizona State says he will hire an agent and make himself available to the NBA draft. The 6-foot-5 sophomore from Los Angeles, the Pac-10 player of the year, made the announcement at a news conference Wednesday at Arizona State. Harden, the first Arizona State player to be named a first-team All-American by The Associated Press, led the Pac-10 in scoring at 20.1 points per game but struggled in the postseason.

Pitt’s Blair to declare for NBA: DeJuan Blair guaranteed Pitt coach Jamie Dixon a year ago that he would play a full college career. One exceptional season changed all that. Blair said Wednesday he will declare for the NBA draft and has begun hiring representatives, ending any possibility that the All-America center could return for his junior season. Blair averaged 15.7 points and 12.3 rebounds this season and was the Big East co-player of the year with Connecticut’s Hasheem Thabeet.

• Arizona’s Jordan Hill leaving early: Arizona forward Jordan Hill will forgo his senior year and make himself eligible for the NBA draft. Hill averaged 18.1 points and 11 rebounds this season for the Wildcats, who reached the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament.

Spartan guards to undergo foot surgery: Michigan State guards Korie Lucious and Chris Allen will undergo surgery this week after each broke his right foot during Monday’s NCAA men’s basketball championship. Lucious is a freshman. He was pushed from Ford Field in Detroit in a wheelchair after the Spartans fell 89-72 to the North Carolina Tar Heels. Allen will be a junior next season.
