Dry Creek Falls

Springtime makes hikes along the Columbia River Gorge a spectacle of lush vegetation and awesome views.

For an easy hike right off Interstate 84, try the little-known Dry Creek Falls trail, a four-mile out-and-back trail that follows the Pacific Crest Trail, starting at Bridge of the Gods trailhead in Cascade Locks.

Where: Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area/Bridge of the Gods trail head

Difficulty: Easy to moderate

Length: 2.2 miles one way

Getting there: From Bend, take U.S. Highway 97 north to state Highway 26 west. Take state Highway 35 north to Hood River (exit is near Government Camp) and then take I-84 west. Or, take U.S. Highway 97 north to state Highway 197 through Maupin, then take I-84 west at The Dalles. Drive for roughly 20 minutes past Hood River. Take the Cascade Locks exit 44. Go straight through town for 1.5 miles, and turn left at the sign for Bridge of the Gods (Charburger restaurant is on the right, Columbia River side). Turn right into the trail head parking area.
