Eric Fiskum and Pete DeMuniz of Salem, who won the gross division in 2008, were able to defend their championship at the Central Oregon Shootout this year after combining for a 64 in the final round’s Chapman to finish with a three-day total of 198.

Central Oregonians were shut out of first place in at least four of six divisions of the Central Oregon Shootout, a three-day amateur golf tournament that ended Sunday.

The Shootout, which is played at Aspen Lakes Golf Course in Sisters, Black Butte Ranch’s Big Meadow, and Eagle Crest Resort’s Ridge Course, features 300 golfers playing in two-person teams from around the Northwest and beyond.

The vast majority of the field lives outside of Central Oregon.

Mike DeWitt and Dave Coffin of Gresham finished three shots behind Fiskum and DeMuniz and in second place. The Gresham residents had to fight off a slew of Bend residents.

Albert King and R.C. Mench of Bend finished in third place with a three-day 205. Bend’s Stein Swenson and Mike Reuther finished two shots behind them. And Harry Paik and Ryan Rokowski, 65-ended in sixth place with a three-day 209.

Annette Van Daam of Vancouver, Wash., and Sue Hunter of Portland combined for a net 196 to win the ladies division by nearly four net strokes over Robin Hamilton of Tacoma, Wash., and Missy Smith of Portland.

The first net men’s division was won by Anthony and Joe Howells of Enumclaw, Wash. The duo totaled a net 180.75, four shots better than another family duo, Dan Turin of Gresham and David Turin of Welches. Former Oregon State University football star Bill Swancutt of Salem and teammate Reid Hellbusch finished in third place.

Kurt Snyder of Vancouver, Wash., and Travis Pratt of Tigard won the fourth net division with a three-day net 191.5.

The final-round scores for the second and third flights, which were played at Black Butte Ranch, were not reported.

The Central Oregon Shootout featured three days of team golf. The format for the first round was two-person scramble, which was followed with a round of best ball Saturday. The tournament concluded with a Chapman event on Sunday, and each flight played a different course each day.
