Pine Mountain Sports (255 S.W. Century Drive in Bend) will host a special appearance by Oregon outdoors author William Sullivan on Friday.

Sullivan, who has a new book called “Atlas of Oregon Wilderness,” will present a slide show of the state’s most beautiful wilderness areas, from the Oregon Dunes to Steens Mountain. Attendees can expect tips for summer backpacking, winter tours and day hikes, too.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. The event is free, but you must RSVP by calling 541-385-8080.
