WOODBURN — Former Bend High School standout Cory Schmidt will play in the 100th Oregon Amateur Championship after firing a 2-over-par 74 Sunday at an Oregon Amateur Qualifier at OGA Golf Course.

Schmidt, a freshman golfer at the University of Portland, finished in a seven-way tie for 15th place Sunday, seven strokes behind co-medalists Dusty Schmidt, of Portland, and Arthur Kim, of Tigard.

Qualifiers will be playing at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort on the southern Oregon Coast June 22-27 in the state’s most prestigious amateur golf tournament.
