Eaton among 15 UO track athletes named All-America

EUGENE — Bend’s Ashton Eaton, who successfully defended his decathlon title last week at the 2009 NCAA Championships, received All-America honors Tuesday from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Eaton, a University of Oregon junior, was one of 15 Duck track athletes to land All-America honors. The list included Galen Rupp, who was honored for both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters.

The other UO track and field All-America honorees were Andrew Wheating (men’s 800), Cyrus Hostetler (men’s javelin), Shadrack Biwott (men’s 5,000), Marshall Ackley (decathlon), Luke Puskedra (men’s 10,000), Alex Wolff (men’s javelin), Brianne Theisen (heptathlon), Rachel Yurkovich (women’s javelin), Nicole Blood (women’s 5,000), Jamesha Youngblood (women’s long jump), Keshia Baker (women’s 400), Kalindra McFadden (heptathlon), and Mattie Bridmon (women’s 10,000).
