Nancy Walters

January 18, 1940 – June 11, 2009

Nancy passed away June 11, 2009, at Crystal Waters Care Facility in Sunriver. She was 69 years old.

Services were held Tuesday June 16, in Bend, OR at St. Francis Catholic Church. A graveside service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, OR on Wednesday, June 17, at 11:00 a.m., Father Daniel Maxwell, Celebrant.

Mrs. Walters was born in Newburyport, MA, the daughter of Harry and Mary Ellen (Campbell) Brown. She graduated from Pierce Secretarial School in Boston, MA. She married Ralph K. Walters, Sr. who preceded her in death. She worked at the Los Angeles Times for over five years, and at Sunriver Realty for over 10 years. Nancy also partnered with Steve Sheldon, guiding fishing trips on the Deschutes, and was a devoted fly-fishing lady. She enjoyed spending time fishing with friends in Baja, Mexico, RVing, and shopping at Macy’s. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, the Central Oregon Fly Fishers and The Sunriver Anglers.

Survivors include her loving partner and companion of 25 years, Steve Sheldon; children, Ralph Walters, Jr. of Bend, OR, and Rachel Leach of Gresham, OR; brother, Harry Brown Jr. of Newburyport, MA; grand- children, Courtney Walters, Joshua Koff, Elizabeth Leach and Anna Leach; also her black Labrador, ”Buddy”.

”She was a loving mother, grandmother, loving partner and companion, and we will miss her greatly.”

She was preceded in death by her parents and late husband.
