Adventure Sports Calendar

The Bulletin welcomes contributions to its weekly Adventure Sports Calendar. Items should be mailed to P.O. Box 6020, Bend, OR 97708; faxed to the sports department at 385-0831; or e-mailed to sports@bendbulletin.com. Items are published on a space-availability basis and should be submitted at least 10 days before the event.

BIKING

Women’s Mountain Biking Clinic: Two-day clinic runs July 11-12. Skills sessions in the morning, followed by trail rides in the afternoon. Taught by professional female cyclists. Lunch both days and bike maintenance session on Saturday evening included. Cost is $295. Contact: Pine Mountain Sports at 541-385-8080.

Bicycle Shuttles: Every first and third Monday through September. The Cog Wild shuttle van leaves Pine Mountain Sports in Bend promptly at 5:30 p.m. Arrive 15 minutes early with bike. Cost is $10 per person. Different drop-off location each week. Helmets and RSVP required. Contact: Pine Mountain Sports at 541-385-8080.

Free Bike Repair Clinics: At Pine Mountain Sports, every second and fourth Tuesday of the month throughout the summer. (Next one is June 23.) Clinics start at 7:30 p.m. and cover the basics of maintaining your bike (mountain and road) on the trail and throughout the season. 12 cyclists per session. RSVP required. Bend Cycling Club mountain bike camp: Registration is now open for youth of all abilities, ages 8-16. Bend Cycling Club camp is three weeks long and participants can choose to ride with their coaches two or three afternoons a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, or just Wednesday and Friday) from 4 to 6 p.m. Costs are $135 or $165 per three-week session. MULTISPORT

Freshairsports time trial and Duathlon series: Thursdays at 6 p.m., the cycling time trial and duathlon series will continue until Aug. 6. Cycling distance is 12.4 miles, running is 3 miles. Races start at the new Miller Elementary School on Skyliners Road. Cost it $12 for one TT race, $15 for one duathlon race; $70 for the series (junior prices available). Pacific crest weekend sports festival: Held June 26-28 in Sunriver. Event offers 10 races, including a long-course triathlon, an Olympic-distance triathlon, a marathon, a five-kilometer run/walk and children’s races. Cost varies. For more information, visit www.racecenter.com/pacificcrest.

NORDIC SKIING

Bend endurance academy ski camps: Summer nordic training for ages 15 to 22. Held through Aug. 16. Cost is $350, five days a week. Skate/classic roller skis necessary. More information: www.bendenduranceacademy.org or www.bendnordic.org.

PADDLING

Stand-Up-Paddle Sundays: At Sunriver Resort Marina on Sundays from 1-2 p.m.; Free. Register by contacting the Marina at 541-593-3492; each class limited to 12 participants.

RUNNING

Cascade lakes relay: Held July 31-Aug. 1 from Diamond Lake to Bend. The running relay is a distance of 216.6 miles, the walking course is a distance of 131.8 miles. For more information or to register, visit www.cascadelakesrelay.com; registration deadline is July 1.

Smith Rock sunrise summer classic: Held July 11. Races include: 1-mile run for children in grades 1-8, a half marathon, a 10K and a 5K. The half marathon is a sanctioned Portland Marathon training run. Races start and finish at Smith Rock State Park, in Terrebonne.
