The Bulletin welcomes contributions to its weekly Adventure Sports Calendar. Items should be mailed to P.O. Box 6020, Bend, OR 97708; faxed to the sports department at 385-0831; or e-mailed to sports@bendbulletin.com. Items are published on a space-availability basis and should be submitted at least 10 days before the event.

BIKING

Mountain Bike RIDE Of The Month: The second Saturday of every month with Bend Metro Park and Recreation. Beginner to intermediate level, 2-3 hour ride. Rides are off the beaten path. Cost is $12 per ride, with transportation provided. Contact: www.bendparkandrec.org or 541-771-3060.

Bicycle Shuttles: Every first and third Monday through September. The Cog Wild shuttle van leaves Pine Mountain Sports in Bend promptly at 5:30 p.m. Arrive 15 minutes early with bike. Free Bike Repair Clinics: At Pine Mountain Sports, every second and fourth Tuesday of the month throughout the summer. Clinics start at 7:30 p.m. and cover the basics of maintaining your bike (mountain and road) on the trail and throughout the season. 12 cyclists per session. RSVP required. High Cascades 100 MTB Endurance Race: Scheduled for Bend, on Aug. 23. 100-mile mountain bike race will include the new Wanoga trail system, Mt. Bachelor singletrack loop and Tumalo Mountain area. Registration is open at www.mudslingerevents.com/high-cascades-100/.

CENTRAL OREGON VELO ROAD RIDES: Weekly road group ride leaving from Nancy P’s Bakery on the west side of Bend at 9 a.m. on Saturdays. The pace is conversational with no riders left behind. Ride durations are 2 1⁄2 to 3 hours. Contact: www.centraloregonvelo.com.

HIKING

women’s hiking group: For women ages 40-70; six-week hiking sessions led by ACE certified personal trainer Kathi Seegraves, every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Aug. 20. Fitness assessment will be conducted at the beginning of each session; strength training and yoga will be incorporated into the adventures. Cost per session is $72; $15 for drop-in visits. Silver striders guided hikes: Held Aug. 2-3. Two intermediate day hikes with a trained naturalist in the Fremont National Forest with an overnight stay at Aspen Ridge Resort in Bly. MULTISPORT

freshairsports time trial and Duathlon series: Thursdays at 6 p.m., the cycling time trial and duathlon series will continue until Aug. 6. Cycling distance is 12.4 miles, running is 3 miles. Races start at the new Miller Elementary School on Skyliners Road. Cost is $12 for one TT race, $15 for one duathlon race; $70 for the series (junior prices available). Flaming Chicken Adventure Race: Set for Saturday, Aug. 22. Includes 25-mile mountain bike in the Central Oregon Cascades, a 10-mile trek, and a kayak/canoe ride across a lake. Racers may choose a 6- or 12-hour option. Participants of all levels welcome. Teams of two, three or four. NORDIC SKIING

PADDLING

Odell Lake PIONEER CUP CANOE AND KAYAK RACES: Saturday, July 26. Five-mile race from Shelter Cove Resort To Odell Lake Resort. Cost is $15. Participants receive a hat and are welcome to the barbecue afterward. Youth Outrigger Paddling: Learn the ancient form of Polynesian paddling that has become a worldwide competitive sport. Launch from Alder Creek on the Deschutes. RUNNING

Crater lake rim run and Marathon: Registration now open. Held on Aug. 8 in Crater Lake National Park. Rim runs include a 6.7-mile walk, 6.7-mile run, 13-mile run and a marathon. To register, visit www.craterlakerimruns.com or active.com.

XTERRA TRAIL RUN NATIONALS: A half-marathon main event along with 5K and 10K fun runs, a dog-owner obstacle challenge and family activities on Sunday, Sept. 13. Part of a series comprising more than 50 races and is open to anyone. Cost of registration ranges from $25 to $50, depending on date of registration and race.
