A mattress burning outside a Bend motel spread to the building Friday night, prompting guests to evacuate for a short time.

No one was injured, according to a news release from the Bend Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched to Motel West at the corner of Northeast Second Street and Northeast Irving Avenue shortly before 10 p.m., where they found that the fire had spread from the mattress next to the building to the motel’s exterior and attic. Extinguishing the fire caused minimal water damage to one room, and all occupants were able to return to their units.

Damages were estimated at $25,000.
