JoAnne L. Joyner, beloved wife of Jack Joyner, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her husband and daughters were at her side. She was 65.
JoAnne was born in Hollywood, CA on Oct. 28, 1944, to Albert and Mary Butts. She grew up in Indio, CA, and was a member of Indio High School’s first graduating class in 1962. She raised her family in Indio and worked there for many years.
JoAnne enjoyed many activities such as bowling, softball, basketball, fishing, and gardening. She also loved making crafts and many family members were the recipients of her handiwork.
JoAnne moved to Redmond, Oregon in 1999, where she worked as a pharmaceutical technician for eight years.
JoAnne’s greatest source of joy and pride were her children and grandchildren. One of her greatest sorrows was losing her son, Bill Altland, in 2004, and her stepson, Shawn Joyner, in 2009.
JoAnne is survived by her devoted husband, Jack; her loving daughters, Angie Blankenship (Dave), Lissa Hall (Joe); step-daughter, Vickie Marquardt (Dave); sisters, Diane Hinkle (David) and Noell Parker; grandchildren, Christina and Sarah Altland, Dan and Becky Blankenship, Zackary, Colby, Tanner, and Timothy Hall, Shelly and Marissa Marquardt; and great-grandchildren Jaidyn, Hope, and Kayden.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Hinkle residence on Saturday, February 27, 2010, starting at 1:00 pm, 51-515 Avenida Obregon, in La Quinta, CA. 760-564-7767.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her and she will be missed always.
