CORVALLIS — Bend High soccer standout Austin Crook has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the men’s soccer team at Oregon State University.

According to a release from OSU on Friday, Beaver head coach Steve Simmons announced the signing of seven players. That list included only one player from Oregon — Crook, who as a senior last fall was named the state’s Class 5A player of the year.

Crook scored 56 goals in his career at Bend High, including 29 in the 2009 season.

“Austin comes to us as one of the top players in our state,” Simmons said in the release. “He’s done well to score a lot of goals, but the thing that he brings to the table is the edge to compete. While he’s done well in more advanced positions, I can also see him playing outside back when the time comes.”
