Panthers coach Peter DeBoer fired after three years: Florida Panthers coach Peter DeBoer has been fired after his team finished last in the Eastern Conference. Florida snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over the Washington Capitals in their season finale Saturday. General manager Dale Tallon said in a statement Sunday “we need to go in a new direction with a fresh approach and philosophy.” DeBoer coached the Panthers for three seasons. They just missed the playoffs his first year but have fallen in the standings since.
