Support Robin Hood tax

About $1.5 trillion changes hands on exchange markets daily, almost all through untaxed transactions by nonproductive wealthy speculators. If a tiny fraction were taxed, billions would be raised to fund social good and alleviate national debt. That’s the idea behind the HR 755, the “Robin Hood Tax” — Support it.

To curtail avoidable ongoing welfare expenditures funding and access to birth control, measures must be left intact for the poor — unwanted children being the greatest cost, while often culminating in serious antisocial behavior.

Monsanto Corporation has recently plowed forward in having its GMO (genetically modified) alfalfa and other grains approved, which could easily seed surrounding fields. Landowners could then be sued for copyright infringement, while eliminating healthier choices by producers and consumers.

The FCIC (Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission) report showed political contributions were a key factor in the financial meltdown — just another reason citizens must wrest control from big money that’s rapidly turning our democracy into a “corpocracy” through legalized bribery, while supporting proposals to trim subsidies to industries making record profit (i.e., oil), garnishing hundreds of times more for every dollar spent lobbying Congress.

To solve our country’s unsustainable spending and indebtedness, all excesses, pork and sacred cows must be on the table for cuts by both parties and advanced/accepted by citizenship to reconcile with economic realities. If we’re selfish or fail, everyone will be down the drain — it’s as simple as that.
