Fire destroys trailer in La Pine RV park

A La Pine woman and her three children lost most of their possessions early Easter morning when a fire destroyed their fifth-wheel trailer at the Whispering Pines RV Park in La Pine.

Lisa Choate and her family were sleeping when one of Choate’s children noticed the fire and alerted the rest of the family, according to the La Pine Rural Fire Protection District. Neighbors assisted by calling 911.

Choate, a college student, did not have a working smoke detector.

According to the La Pine Fire Department, the family was lucky to escape.

The family has received assistance from the American Red Cross and La Pine firefighters, who have raised more than $400.
