Marvin Starer, of Los Angeles and Bend, passed away, April 26, 2011.

Born in 1932, in Los Angeles, to Paul and Esther Starer, Marvin was the younger brother of Miriam and was later graduated from UCLA with a BA in American History. He also served in the US Army stationed in France as a peacekeeper following World War II.

A life-long educator, Marvin worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District for more than 34 years and was a well-known face in the Bend/La Pine School District especially at Marshall High School. He began his teaching career at Birmingham High School where he taught public speaking and United States history to such notables as Sally Fields and Michael Ovitz.

In 1961, Marvin met the love of his life, Sharon Borenstein. Their marriage lasted for more than 43 years until Sharons passing in 2007.

Marvin is survived by his three sons, Josh, Paul, and Noah.
