Mary Geraldine Schlegel of Bend, Oregon, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, April 29, 2011, of natural causes. She was 86.

Mary was born October 3, 1924, in Portland, Oregon, to Hershel and Esther (McClintok) Tallman. In 1942, she graduated from Commerce High School in Portland, Oregon. She moved to Central Oregon in 2001 to be closer to her son and daughter.

Mary spent her career as a librarian and bookkeeper. She enjoyed reading, traveling, her trips to the casino, and spending time with her family and friends.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Cassie Kottkamp of Bend, Oregon; and her sons, Kip Anderson of Seaside, Oregon, and Warren Schlegel of Nehalem, Oregon. Other survivors include her four grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband, Warren Lester Schlegel.
