• Blues open playoffs with blowout win: In its first Rugby Oregon Division I playoff match, the Bend Blues boys rugby team defeated the West Linn Lions 57-0 Saturday at Bend’s Hal Puddy Field.

Tyler Canfield scored two tries to lead the Blues, who also defeated West Linn 48-10 on April 23. Seven other players scored a try apiece for the Bend side, and Manny Preto Prebelo, Connor Crossley and Cory Babb added conversions to complete the Blues’ scoring.

In the semifinal round this Saturday, the Blues are scheduled to face the Beaverton Barbarians at noon at Portland’s Delta Park. The Barbarians handed the Blues one of their two losses for the season — a 20-14 defeat on April 16.
