* Local pro to open academy at Sunriver: Bend golf pro Martin Chuck is planning to launch the Tour Striker Golf Academy later this month at Sunriver Resort.

Chuck — inventor of the Tour Striker training aid, which is sold in golf stores around the country — will offer four-day academy classes and private lessons, along with online coaching and video analysis and corporate event management.

Chuck will join Mike Palen, director of instruction at Sunriver Resort.

The Tour Striker Academy is scheduled to be open at Sunriver through October, and Chuck hopes to open more locations outside of Central Oregon.

Chuck was the director of golf at Tetherow Golf Club in Bend from 2008 until earlier this year. His Tour Striker is a modified iron designed to help golfers make better impact.
