PORTLAND — A 34-year-old Portland entrepreneur has developed a razor with the selling price of $100,000.

Hayden Hamilton has spent four years on and off — and almost $1 million of his own money — developing the Zafirro Iridium razor, which recently went on sale.

The Oregonian says that despite a bounty of publicity, Hamilton has zero confirmed orders so far for any of the 99 razors in a limited-edition run.

Hamilton says the value of his razor transcends its price tag, its sapphire blade and even the daily ritual of shaving.

He says there’s a beauty in making something well.
