Alexander Dederer of Bend, Oregon, died March 15, 2011, of natural causes. He was 94.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the Bend Seventh-day Adventist Church, 21530 NE Butler Market Rd., at 4:00 p.m. No
flowers, please.
Alexander was born March 22, 1916, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to John and Katie Dederer. He married Lillian Mosbeck on August 11, 1940, and had four children.
He graduated from medical school from Loma Linda University in the class of 1946. He served his country in the air force as chief surgeon at Carswell Air Base Hospital, Fort Worth, Texas. Upon completing his service for his country he moved to Eugene, Oregon, in 1955, where he practiced medicine at the Westmoreland Medical Clinic for 30 years.
In 1987, he retired and with his wife, Lillian, moved to Black Butte Ranch, and then made the move the Bend in 1995.
He loved his family and his church. He enjoyed golfing, growing dahlias, listening to music, and was an avid reader.
Alexander is survived by his daughter, Carol Ranck, of Vancouver, WA; his sons, James, of Pleasant Hill, OR, and Paul, of Bend, OR; four grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, and his son Randall.
