Backporch Coffee Roasters will move from its Newport Avenue site across the street, to occupy Ginger’s Kitchenware’s previous space, between 10th and 11th streets, co-owner Dave Beach said.

The five-year lease on the current Newport location is up Sept. 15, and Beach said he would like the new facility to be open by then.

“I was staring at that building for the last three years, wondering, ‘What if?’ ” he said, adding that, with a patio and other advantages, it would be a perfect spot for a coffee shop.

Ginger’s Kitchenware has moved its store to Bend’s Old Mill District.
